Madayi Pally situated  in the heart of Payangadi town is one of the most beautiful mosques in the village. It is believed to have been constructed by the time of Malik Ibin Dinar, an Arab trader. 

It is said to be more than thousand years old and has been rebuilt in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. A block of white marble in the mosque is believed to have been brought from Mecca.

Around 1330 of Hijra calendar, under the auspicious late B. Kunhi Ahammed Hajee, a revolutionist movement started wherein the ladies were invited to participate in the Friday Juma'a,  Eid prayer and the service of Kuthubha were conducted in Malayalam. More......

Madayi Kavu and the Vadukunnu Temple built in the 12th century are the major temples here. There is also a dilapidated fort at Madayi, which is supposed to have been built by Tipu Sultan of Mysore.  The temple contains some interesting sculptures and lithic records.

The temple dedicated to Shiva is one of the most important temples in Malabar. The exquisite carvings in the temple are said to have been carried out nearly 400 years ago.

The annual temple Festival, usually held in March is a colorful event.



The Tawam church, situated within the walls of the Payangadi, was built in 1869. It is situated in the middle of the paddy crops. The tomb of the church can be seen from top of Madayi Para. 

 

 

 

Ahmadiyya Mission was established in Kerala during the lifetime of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, Promised Mahdi and Messiah, the founder of the movement. The first Ahmadi from the state was from Calicut, the first Jamaat was established at Cannanore and the first Mosque built by the community in Payangadi.

 

 

Mujahiddun Masjid was established very recently in Payangadi.
