The tourism potential for Payangadi is high. The Madayi Ferry attracts plenty of tourists. Etticulam Fort is an important tourist center. Sulthan Thodu and Ezhimala are known for scenic beauty. Places of Historic importance, like the Madayi Para, China Clay Kothitharacha Para are beautiful location of Payangadi. 

The Puthiyangadi beach is one of the beautiful beaches in Cannanore district and is an ideal place to spend evenings. 

The beach is a conspicuous, isolated cluster of hills (Ezhimla), forming a wall to the Arabian sea.

Uncrowded, the beach is a tourist's paradise, with golden sand and surf.


Juda Kulam waters make it a swimmer's paradise. Perhaps this is Kerala's only one pond made by Jews.

The Ezhimala Mountain and beach lie at the northern boundary of Kannur. Rare medicinal herbs grow on the strange seven-peaked range, that is Ezhimala, around 50 KMs from Kannur. There is an old tower of great antiquity here at a height of 885 feet. 

At the foot of the hills is a cave and an old burial chamber. Farther up the hills is an ancient mosque where sculptured stone pillars can be seen. Ezhimala and its surrounding areas are also known for some rare medicinal herbs used in Ayurvedic formulations. (Entry to the area restricted)

Decent accommodation is available at Payangadi to some extent.
